Canada is experiencing a housing crisis, including Indigenous communities, that demands immediate scalable solutions.

Healing begins at the home fire.

Blue Buffalo Lodge (BBL) brings together First Nations, government, and industry leaders

to deliver sustainable housing opportunities that reflect Indigenous values,

cultural integrity, and economic reconciliation.

Vision
Blue Buffalo Lodge envisions thriving Indigenous communities grounded in the 4 Directional Ways of Knowing, where access to safe, affordable housing creates pathways for wellness, cultural revitalization, and economic self-determination. Through housing initiatives, we aim to nurture the mind, body, spirit, and community for present and future generations.

Mission
The mission of Blue Buffalo Lodge is to reclaim and revitalize the original teachings of the 4 Directional Ways of Knowing by developing and selling affordable housing initiatives that generate sustainable funding for Indigenous-led commerce, wellness, guidance, competition, and storytelling. These initiatives support Indigenous youth and communities by creating stable homes, economic opportunity, and culturally rooted spaces for healing and growth. Blue Buffalo Lodge leverages affordable housing sales as a community-driven economic engine—ensuring that housing is not only a place to live, but a foundation for cultural reconnection, holistic wellness, and long-term community resilience.

"There are 157,453 new homes needed to address the First Nations housing crisis. Widespread issues like overcrowding, mould, and deteriorating infrastructure requiring immediate and strategic investment. The First Nations population, projected to reach 1.8 million by 2041, makes this investment both a moral obligation and a critical economic opportunity."

Meet Our Founders

Our founders bring a wealth of knowledge, expertise and "lived experience" in cultural awareness and understanding, business acumen, technology, innovation, arts, and community living.

Gerald Auger

Gerald Auger is of Woodland Cree descent, and in 1996/97 was awarded National Native Role Model from the Governor General of Canada, has been an Indigenous Relations Consultant for Canadian Energy Executive Association, Entrepreneur, Award winning Director/Actor from the Alberta Motion Picture Industry Assocation and the New Filmmakers Los Angeles. Gerald is also a Graduate of Business Management specializing in Marketing/Management from Grande Prairie Regional College, 1995.

Gerald is the Owner/President of a film production company entitled 4 Directional Studios. Gerald considers himself a product of inter-generational impact and colonization. After working with Hollywood for over 25 years he walked away from it all. Gerald went on a 6 year sabbatical in the wilderness to heal from intergenerational impact and to reconnect with his Creator, ancestors, elders, ceremony, and the original teachings.

Gerald made a choice to go back to his traditional teachings and the spiritual way of life, to help bridge the gap between Indigenous Peoples and the western world, so that our children and their children can live in a world filled with love, kindness and compassion. Gerald has been learning the original teachings  and practising his spirituality for over 34 years.

George Canyon

George Canyon rose to become one of Canada’s hottest Country Music stars in the early 2000s and has won countless accolades and awards, including Juno Awards, CCMA Awards, and ECMA Awards.

He has been inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame, recorded 12 albums, and was recently presented a certified Platinum Award for his debut album ‘One Good Friend’. George is also a highly regarded humanitarian, a strong supporter of the military, and, most importantly, a proud father and devoted husband.

With all that he does, one might think that George doesn’t often have time for anything else, but they would be so very wrong. When asked he will happily admit that being a husband and dad is still his #1 job.
